Café Orzo is a new project from two leaves and a bud tea co.

We travel a lot. And Italy is one of our favorite places. Our founder lived and studied there during university and returned year-after-year for business and pleasure. His story:

After a big dinner, late at night, I love to have an espresso. However, I prefer to sleep. In Italy, I can enjoy a Café Orzo (there it is called "caffé d'orzo") after dinner and sleep like a baby. (A fat, happy baby.) It struck me as odd that one could not enjoy this yummy robust drink outside of Italy. Hmmmm...

Then, a few years ago, I ran in to my old friend Mario. We somehow got on to a discussion of Café Orzo and he mentioned that he knew of a cooperative of small organic farms, near the Adriatic who happened to grow orzo ("barley," in Italian.) So, off we went to me meet a wonderful group of committed, hard-working farmers running bio-diverse, small family farms.

It took a few years, but in October 2009, we were able to bring our first shipment of Certified Organic, small farm grown, Café Orzo to North America.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
